Health & Safety Manager

Your function

As Group HS manager you ensure compliance with legislation and Group policies on health and safety across the Group Raffinerie Tirlemontoise in Belgium. As HS expert you report to the Factories Director Belgium and work closely together with the local HSE Coordinators. Your main tasks will be the following:

  1. Follow-up European, national and regional legislation in order to develop a common HS approach across the Südzucker Group in collaboration with local HSE Coordinators and Plant Managers
  2. Act as an internal HS expert by giving support to site HSE coordinators and by maintaining your HS knowledge up to date so as to effectively carry out your role
  3. Work with the Plant Managers to revise HS policies to reflect all current legislation and internal policies and provide training to update individuals where and whenever necessary
  4. Implement and drive the Safety Culture change throughout the overall organisation
  5. Support investigations of HS issues and incidents to determine root causes and develop effective corrective and preventive actions. Ensure all corrective and preventive actions are completed on schedule
  6. Guarantee continuous improvement of the HS system by organising internal audits, regular site visits, training, safety support, etc.
  7. Keep up-to-date records of incidents and accidents and produce corresponding statistics and management reports
  8. Promote and facilitate a positive safety and health mindset throughout the business, network and act as point of contact for the authorities and for the Südzucker Group on HS matters

Your profile

This is a diverse, interesting and challenging role. We shall only consider field minded candidates of high integrity and with a dynamic and solution-oriented attitude. Candidates should furthermore possess the following qualifications and experiences:

  1. Master of Science or Engineering and a degree as Prevention Advisor Level 1 (Belgium) is a must, additional environmental background is a plus
  2. At least 5 years work experience in a similar job, preferably in process industry or FMCG
  3. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch, English and French
  4. You are able to engage, inspire people and drive cultural changes
  5. Good knowledge of MS Office is important: knowledge of an ERP system (preferably SAP) is a plus
  6. Willingness to travel regularly to the Belgian factories and to HQ in Mannheim, Germany
